Appreciation and Depreciation

The rising and falling of property values. Appreciation is an increase in the value of an asset, while depreciation is a decrease in value. For example, if stock X had a value of $25 per share yesterday, but a value of $27 today, it has experienced an appreciation of $2. This appreciation is also called paper profit and will yield actual money only when it is redeemed.
