A pension plan that combines a target benefit plan and a floor plan. A target benefit plan works on the assumption that its investments will yield a certain assumed rate of return. A floor plan provides a set amount of pension funds according to a formula. The two plans can be combined so that if the investments of the target benefit plan earn less than the assumed rate of return, the floor plan will take effect and pensions will still be paid.
